At the Cardio Clinic we do cardiovascular screening which helps treat and prevent heart disease and strokes. We perform Cardiovascular Diagnostic Tests and perform the following diagnostic tests:

Electrocardiogram (ECG)

Lung Function Test (LFT)

Exercise Stress Test (EST)

Echocardiography (Heart Sonar)

Carotid Sonar

24-hour Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM)

24-hour ECG Monitoring (Holter ECG)

Cardiovascular Screening

Electrocardiogram (ECG)

This is a basic diagnostic tool used to assess the health of the heart. It is the measurement of the heart’s electrical activity which can indicate the health and state of the heart.

Lung Function Test (LFT)

Also known as Pulmonary Function Test (PFT), this test measures how well the lungs work. The use of a spirometer measures how much air you can breathe in and out and how fast you can blow air out of the lungs.

Exercise Stress Test (EST)

Also known as exercise tolerance or stress ECG, this is usually done to assess how well the heart copes on exertion. During this test, oxygen demand is increased thus testing the ability of the heart to supply increased oxygen demand. Changes on ECG accompanied with pain could be suggestive of coronary artery disease.

Echocardiogram (Heart Sonar)

Echocardiogram uses sound waves to produce images of the heart. This allows the doctor to look the structure of the heart, assess the flow of blood through the heart and the valves.

24-hour Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM)

This is an ambulatory blood pressure monitor. This is used to assess the true state of hypertension of a patient when there is puzzling or varying results.

24-hour ECG Monitoring (Holter ECG)

This is an ambulatory ECG recorder. It records the patient’s ECG over a long period, up to 72 hours. A Holter monitor device is attached to the patient to investigate if the patient has an abnormal heart rhythm.
